OTC Pro Lesson Transcriber
Windows 10 or 11 only. Not for Mac or Chromebook.

Windows or Chrome may flag this download as spam or a virus. That happens because the file is new and few people have downloaded it yet, and the first setup installs the listening software. This is not a virus. It is the OTC Pro beta. Your lessons stay on your computer. If a warning appears, choose Keep, or More info and then Keep anyway.

1. If Python is not already installed, install Python 3.11 from python.org first.
Use the Windows 64-bit installer. On the first screen, tick Add python.exe to PATH.
2. Download the zip.
3. Right-click it, click Extract All, then click Extract.
Windows can do this by itself. You do not need another unzip program.
4. Open the new folder. Do not run the app from inside the zip window.
You will see "Install and open", "Install instructions", and a folder named App.
5. Double-click "Install and open". Do not open the App folder.
Do not choose Run as administrator.
A setup window opens. Click through one step at a time.
The bar keeps moving while a step is working, and the text says what is happening.
The listening-software step often takes 5 to 15 minutes.
Some downloads do not show a percentage. The window is still working. Keep it open.
If Windows asks for permission, click Yes.
If Windows asks to install device software, click Install.
6. On the last step, click Open the app.
A desktop shortcut named OTC Pro Lesson Transcriber is created.
7. If the window says to restart the computer, restart before your first lesson.
That is what turns on student audio.

Next time, double-click the desktop shortcut. Do not choose Run as administrator.

A headset is the best way to keep the student's audio from mixing with your voice.
Your recordings stay on this computer. The app does not upload them.
